This popular variety is most often grown in the region of Abruzzo on the eastern coast of Italy. The region lies along the Adriatic providing sea breezes, reflected sunlight and sandy, well-draining soils. Together these attributes produce a soft, easy-going red with flavors of ripe black plum and black cherry. Montepulciano pairs beautifully with burgers or spaghetti bolognese.
