Cantina Social Cooperative Vecchia Torre is one of Puglia's most well-regarded cooperatives. Located in southern Italy, this region recieves ample sunshine and heat, requiring winemakers to be thoughtful about their grape varieties and vineyard sites. Beginning in 2006, the co-op began planting Vermentino, which is naturally resistant to the heat, in a small, 10-hectare vineyard site between two hills that provided the vines with a cooling breeze. The result is a ripe, sun-kissed wine that manages to maintain its freshness and vibrancy, with flavors of fresh citrus and melon notes, savory herbs and a bright acidity that makes this wine a fantastic partner to many foods. Try it with pesto sauce, fresh spring vegetables or grilled seabass.
