A collaboration between winemakers Josef Umathum and Wolfgang Peck, Zantho has been producing elegant wines in the Burgenland region of Austria since its founding in 2002. With a focus on sustainable viticulture and a passion for cultivating indigenous grapes, this winery combines traditional and modern techniques to achieve each vintage. This medium-bodied wine is grown in iron-rich, gravelly soils and is fermented in stainless steel tanks followed by aging in small oak barrels. Notes of rose petal, pipe tobacco, black cherries, and red apples are met with a long and spice-forward finish. Pair with game dishes, deli sandwiches, and lamb stew.
