96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Carmenere

Valle de Aconcagua, Chile

Chile's Aconcagua Valley has been the home of Vicente family winemaking since 1974. Horacio, the head wine maker, didn't just learn from his father, whom he helped replant the vineyard in 1994. He studied Oenology at the University of Bordeaux, and worked in France at Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Mouton Cadet before working for Chalone Vineyards in California! The winery has committed to sustainability in the vineyards through practices like planting cover crops between the rows of vines. The In Situ wines are also intended to showcase the high-altitude terroirs of the Upper Aconcagua Valley. This blend is hand picked- Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere which are grown in two vineyards. The wine is aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels for 12 months. Deep red in color, and showcasing flavors of black currant, dark plum, red cherry and black pepper. The finish is well rounded and has complimentary flavors of vanilla and tobacco. A great wine to drink with barbequed pork. Enjoy now or cellar up to 5 years, if you think you can wait that long!
