Bodegas Naia was established in 2002 with the intent to produce a Verdejo with the best qualities of the original. La Seca, considered to be the cradle of Verdejo production in Rueda, was strategically chosen as the location, and the oldest Verdejo vines were selected for this purpose. This wine is harvested from vines which range in age from 30-40 years, and at altitudes of 2400-2600 feet. Fermentation mostly takes place in stainless steel tanks, with 30% of the wine fermented in French oak vats and barrels. The wine is then aged in oak on its lees for 4 months to provide even more structure and density. Aromas of peach & apricot are prevalent with undertones of herbs and toast. Fresh citrus flavors combine with notes of pear, peach & pineapple to provide an intensely fruity & textured wine which pairs well with roast sea bass or a mushroom risotto.
